St. Vrain Valley Schools Launches New Initiative to Close the Word Gap

As St. Vrain Valley Schools continues to advance our programs that support our youngest learners, we are proud to announce a new partnership with the LENA Research Foundation and the OUR Center in Longmont that will prepare infants and toddlers (0-30 months) for school by encouraging parents to talk more with their children.

As the countdown to summer winds down, students and teachers across the district are gearing up for camp season and it’s not too late to sign up. 
 
Performing arts, financial literacy and STEM camps are among the district’s summer programs that still have openings.

Young Ameritowne on the Road Summer Camp

For the second summer in a row, the Young Americans Center for Financial Education, a Denver-based pioneering nonprofit, will lead its award-winning, week-long Young Ameritowne on the Road Summer Camp, for students entering third through sixth grade, at Sunset Middle School. The traveling camp is a recent innovation, bringing the camp, which covers financial literacy, local government and workplace readiness, from the Denver center to offsite locations.

I Teach Because...

Think back to when you were a student, back-to-school shopping, finding your classroom, and the exciting lessons that would soon fill your day. The first day of school jitters that were calmed by the friendly, welcoming face, and celebrating the “ah ha” moments when you finally figured out how to solve the problem. Then there was the time in kindergarten, when you went to the restroom but couldn’t remember the way back to your classroom. As panic set in, that friendly face walked around the corner and they knew exactly where your classroom was.

PTO Open Position

Blue Mountain PTO is looking to fill the following positions:
 
Vice President of Communications - Oversee all communication from the BMES PTO to the BMES school community, create and update (as necessary) parent email distribution lists and act as the primary channel for email communication to parents, and communicate with BMES staff on a weekly basis regarding PTO contributions to the Weekly Update.

Financial Literacy Summer Camps

Jr. Money Matters Camp: for students entering 3rd and 4th grade
June 20-24, 2016; 8:30am – 4:30pm
Students explore fun and relevant things about money, banking and the world of work, while learning important basic financial skills.  On the last day, students will get to work in a business and run their very own life-like town.
 
Young Ameritowne Camp: for students entering 5th and 6th grade
June 27-July 1, 2016; 8:30am – 4:30pm
