October is officially upon us, which brings many exciting events at school, including:
– Our annual Book Fair opens tomorrow (October 2) and continues through next Friday (Ocbober 9) The Book Fair will be open each day before and after school, as well as during evening conferences on October 6 and 8. Please stop by and do some shopping!
– The first round of Parent-Teacher Conferences will be October 6, 8, and 14. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about how your child is currently doing in school and be a part of the goals set for the remainder of the year! Please be sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher. Our goal is to have 100% participation!
– We are launching “Lynx to Movement” in an effort to increase movement as well as reduce traffic at school! Please see the article in today’s update (and on our web site) for the details!
– Our school is being recognized for being a Green Star School for 5 years! There will be a ceremony on Late Start afternoon, as well as a week’s worth of fun activities sponsored by Eco Cycle to celebrate our efforts to Reduce, ReUse, Recycle and Compost!
– Our Halloween celebration will be on Friday, October 30! Students may wear their costumes to school that day. (remember – no blood or gore) The Costume Parade will begin at 9:15, and you are welcome to join in the fun by watching the parade as it comes through the gym! The classroom celebrations will begin at 2:50. Thank you to the Room Parents who are busy planning the fun activities for the classroom celebrations!
– Planning is underway for our annual Turkey Trot, which will be November 6. This is our BIG fundraiser for the school year and we will be needing many volunteers. A huge thank you goes out to the committee chairs for the work they have already done! Please consider donating a couple hours of your time to support this important and FUN event!
