Student Exchange Program: Student Needs Host Family

My name is Morgan McKibben, and I am the Field Director overseeing Colorado for a student exchange program called Youth For Understanding.  I have a student, Josephine (Josi) from Germany who is in need of a new host family.  She is currently attending Silver Creek High School in Longmont, and has grown to love the town and people in it.  She loves singing, sports, pets, math, stitching and spending time with family and friends.

I am seeking a warm and loving home for Josi in your community where she is already comfortable and happy. If you can think of someone who might be interested in learning more about hosting her, can you please put them into contact with me? I will be happy to discuss the reasons for the move, what hosting with YFU looks like, responsibilities of YFU host families, and answer any questions. Any leads you send me will be most appreciated by our whole team here at YFU, and also by Josi!  Thank you kindly for your time and support!

Sincerely,

Morgan McKibben

Below are a few words from Josi:

Hello dear host family,

I’m Josephine (Josi) from Germany. I’m already in the US for more than 2 months and I really enjoy my time here. My current school Silver Creek is so nice, I learn something new every day and meet new nice people. I’m especially enjoying my maths, fitness, english and choir classes. I also just joined my school’s swim team and plan on trying tennis in spring. Beside that I’m a member of the Drama and Stitching club, because I like to be creative.

I really like to meet new people and learn more about the American culture. Also I like trying typical American or Mexican food and helping to prepare it.

I’m interested in sports. That’s why one of my highlights so far, was going to one of the Rockies Games with other exchange students and learn more about Baseball. I’m also planning to go to my NBA game soon.

I really enjoy the time in the mountains. The landscape is just stunning. I would love to go skiing there in the winter.

What I especially like about Colorado and Longmont are the people and how nice and open they are to strangers.

Everyone I met so far was really welcoming and kind. And that is one of things I already learned here: to be open and try new things like hiking or smiling at strangers. I never did that, but I realized I really like it. It transfers you (and the other person) in a good mood.

Thank you for reading about me! If you host me, I hope we’ll have a nice time together that we will never forget and I’m really looking forward to meet you!

Sincerely,

Josi.
