Amber Bartels grew up in Longmont and is proud to be a graduate of St. Vrain Valley Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Colorado State University. She has additional music education training in the Orff and Kodály methods of music education. She completed Kodály Level I at Colorado State University, Orff Level I at Southern Methodist University, and Orff Level II at Metro State University of Denver. Her primary instrument is the flute but she also enjoys playing the piano, ukulele, guitar, percussion instruments, and singing. Mrs. Bartels is passionate about creating a joyful and creative elementary music experience for her students. Students at Blue Mountain regularly sing, play instruments, dance, and play music literacy games in the music room. In addition to being the music teacher, Mrs. Bartels also directs the two music clubs at Blue Mountain, the Summit Singers Choir and the Blue Mountain Beats Percussion Ensemble. Mrs. Bartels has experience teaching PK-12th grade music including elementary general music, middle school band, orchestra, and choir, and high school marching band. When Mrs. Bartels isn’t teaching, she enjoys exploring local parks with her husband and their three young boys.
